HERE'S WERE THE RUBBER MEETS THE ROAD
- Pastor Greg Hooker
Everyone of us has seen the passage plastered all over Facebook. Most of you have it memorized. But do you really know what this is? It’s a divine contract between God and His people.
A contract outlines certain perimeters and legal structures between two agreeing parties. In other words, if party (B) fulfills their end of the deal, then party (A) will fulfill theirs. Thus both parties are happy and satisfied. Let’s look at the contract below.
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” - 2 Chronicles 7:14
Now let’s break this contract down and outline it.
IF PARTY (B) God’s people
1. “shall humble themselves”
2. “pray”
3. “seek God’s face”
4. “and turn (repent) from their wicked ways”
If those things are meet in the contract, then;
PARTY (A) God
1. “will hear from Heaven”
2. “will forgive their sins”
3. “will heal their land”
To me this sounds like a fantastic contract, a no brainer. One that is greatly beneficial to both parties. But for some reason this contract isn’t doing what it was intended to do. So what could be the problem?
Upon further investigation, we discover that party (B) has defaulted on their end of the deal. They have failed to “... humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways...” It’s as simple as that.
Because of that negligence to fulfill their end of the deal, party (A) isn’t going to honor the agreement. Until God’s people hold up their end of the contract, God isn’t going to hold up His.
So you see brothers and sisters it’s all up to us! *NOTE: this contract was not made for unbelievers. It was written for God’s children. So we need to fulfill our part of the bargain in order for God to bless and heal our land. We can’t bypass this contract. It was notarized by the Judge and in safe keeping in Heaven.
So what are we going to do? The balls in our court. Will we continue dribbling around the contract making lame excuses, or will we obey and fulfill our part so God can bless us again. The choice is ours. Let’s make the right one. Shall we?
