MARITAL SUCCESS
- By Greg Hooker
My lovely wife and I have been married since 1980. I was just thinking back and wondering how, or why it’s been so successful. Oh yes we've had our ups and downs, but overall we have maintained a loving relationship. Here are some things God brought to mind.
1. Be sure you are both born again.
2. Make certain the marriage is the will of God.
3. Honor your sacred vows made to one another.
4. Attend church together.
5. Tell your spouse several times a day you love them.
6. Laugh together.
7. Hold hands often.
8. Praise your spouse in front of others.
9. Leave no window open for a question of infidelity.
10. Maintain honesty and trust.
11. Be thankful and content in all situations.
12. Pray together.
13. Tell your spouse they are more beautiful, or handsome today than when you first met each other.
14. Overlook each other’s fault and emphasize their good points.
15. Don’t go to bed angry.
16. Understand that real beauty comes from within.
17. Don’t forget to kiss and hug one another.
18. Respect your in-laws, but put each other first above all else.
19. Don’t let life’s circumstances come between yourselves.
20. Look to the Lord and let His undying love fill your hearts.
These are some things my wife and I have held to over the years. They worked for us, I hope they will for you.
“Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.”
- Genesis 2:24
