UNCERTAIN TIMES
By Greg Hooker
During these uncertain times we are living in we often forget the following words of the Lord:
“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” - Isaiah 41:10
GODS SEVEN PROMISES
Could there be greater promises made by the very One that created us in His image giving us both spiritual and physical life? Oh how sweet and melodious are those words to our ears as we face the horrors coming down the road ahead. Perilous times are heading our way like a charging bull bent on trampling the astute Matador. Yet in spite of predetermined terror up ahead, God tells us:
Seven promises given to us by none other than the Almighty God of the universe. Seven is the number of perfection! The Lord is perfect in His ways and with His dealings toward His people.
MANS RESPONSE
Since God has given us seven everlasting promises, it behooves us to respond accordingly. They were given to His creation out of His great love, grace and mercy. We do not deserve, nor merit them. They stem solely from His goodness toward His children. Notice from the following scripture what our response should be:
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” - 2 Timothy 1:7
The world, flesh, and the Devil are producers of fear. Fear confounds our thoughts and action. It causes confusion and helplessness. But God is not the source of our fears, for He says “fear not”.
On the other hand, God did give us the spirit of “power, of love, and a sound mind”. Those three attributes given to us by God should be our goal to earnestly strive for on a daily basis. These three things will dispel fear and will lift us above the world, flesh, and the Devil.
How can we apply these three attributes to daily living?
Simple?...yes! Easy?...no! Why do I say this? Because the world, flesh and the Devil are your enemies that never let up. They will make excuses, break promises, and provide you with opportunities to make other things seem more important than reading the Bible, lending an ear to His Spirit, and taking time to pray. The choice is ours to make. Do we live in fear of the evil coming down the road, or will we overcome it by staying close to our Lord.
“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” - 1 John 4:4

How can we apply these three attributes to daily living?
- Read Gods Word faithfully
- Rely on God Spirit constantly
- Relent to pray without ceasing
