THE DEVIL’S TRAP
By Greg Hooker
“But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.” - Titus 3:9
I must admit, I’m to often sucked into this trap. Let me explain, there are those who thrive on starting arguments and contentions. That’s what they live for. They are like trolls looking to cause trouble doing the bidding of the Wicked One. They don’t have a legitimate question or constructive commit to offer. They will ‘argue with a fence post’ if it would argue back! Seriously! Have you met people like this or is it just me?
For example, almost every time I post the Gospel to a group, there will likely be a troll waiting to pounce, refute and critique every word. And believe you me they are crafty, cunning, and good at it. Don’t underestimate their drive to argue until they work you into a cardiac arrest and they always get in the last word. It just not worth it!
I want to know when it’s a legitimate question from someone who wants to learn, or if it’s a snare set by the Devil. In other words, just keep my mouth shut and keep on trucking if it has no value! I’ve found that so much more peaceful and enjoyable.
I am learning more each day to avoid these useless traps of nonsense, because if you are sucked into their snare it will hinder the Spirit of God who is speaking through you to win the lost to Himself. It’s utterly useless to argue with someone who bounces from post to post creating foolish arguments for the Devil to laugh at.
Lord help all of us to discern the spirits to see if they are of God. After all we want to glorify you both in words and deeds. In Jesus name.
By the way, if they continue to attack you it’s not of the Lord - use the “Delete Button”! Nothing is wrong with that. I use is quite often. Don’t let the Devil ruin your walk with Christ and your witness to others.
